Map the audience before choosing variants
Identify the countries or regions your readers are in and how the content will be used. Decide whether one shared version is suitable or whether specific markets need separate content. Distinguish the language of your website interface from the languages required for the project itself.
Record the differences that matter
For French or Spanish, for example, regional terminology and preferred expressions can differ. Product names, dates, numbers, measurements and calls to action also need consistent treatment. Build a short reference list of decisions rather than changing isolated words without checking the rest of the content.
Review each version as a complete journey
Check navigation, body copy, forms, error messages and downloadable files together. Language switching should retain the corresponding page and the selected region. Before publication, test longer text and locally appropriate glyphs, and arrange language review appropriate to the audience and importance of the material.
