01

Start with readers and intended use

Name the source language, target language regions and intended readers. Explain where the content will appear: a public website, product documentation, an internal document or another agreed use. Add the tone or style requirements that matter. A language name on its own rarely describes the whole task.

02

Identify the working source and references

List the source files, their formats and revision dates. Separate material to be translated from reference-only files. Include approved terminology, brand guidance and previous accepted translations when available. If a source is still changing, mark that clearly instead of presenting several versions as equally current.

03

Define delivery and review

State the desired delivery format, preferred date and any phased priorities. Identify who will answer source questions and who will review the target content. Note layout, character limits or publishing requirements in advance. Confirm the final scope and schedule after the document set has been assessed.

Service scope, availability, responsibilities, fees and delivery arrangements are confirmed for each project before work begins.
